Update Segment Activation for Publisher Optimization for Non-IAS Advertisers

In the Context Control Center, some publisher users can update activations of contextual segments to optimize inventory for non-IAS advertisers.

Notes:

  • Activating / deactivating segments is only available to a select few publishers. If you only have view access to the Context Control Center, go to the Context Control Center for Publishers instead for general guidance.

  • The Context Control Center for publishers only shows activation on the publisher side, it does not show activation on the advertiser side.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Reference > Context Control Center.

    1. Context Control Catalog

  2. The AVOIDANCE SEGMENTS tab is displayed by default. If this isn’t your desired tab, click the TARGETING SEGMENTS tab.

    1. Note: Avoidance and targeting segments consist of off-the-shelf segments only, custom segments are excluded.

    2. ContextControlCenter tabs

  3. Click the checkboxes next to your desired segments.

  4. New buttons appear on the table, allowing you to do the following:

    1. Screen Shot 2022-11-17 at 5.55.07 PM

    2. If you selected INACTIVE segments, click the ACTIVATE button.

    3. If you selected ACTIVE segments, click the DEACTIVATE button.

    4. If you want to undo all the checkboxes and start over, click CLEAR SELECTION.

  5. The Activation status column updates accordingly and the activation process starts.

  6. The activation process completes in about 3 hours.

  7. After activation, publisher ad servers start receiving newly-activated segment keys if the web content is associated with the activated contextual segments as a part of the publisher optimization offering.
