Before You Begin

1. Create your campaigns in IAS Signal. For help creating campaigns in IAS, Campaign Management Platform - Video Tutorial. 

2. Create your campaigns in Flashtalking. For help creating campaigns in Flashtalking, click here.

Apply IAS Verification to Placements

1. From the Flashtalking platform, go to the Campaign Summary Grid and click the Actions menu > Connect Verification Partner.

   

   The Connect Verification Partner window opens.

2. Name your integration.

   

3. Click the Verification Partner menu and select IAS. The window expands with several IAS-specific fields.

4. Add your IAS Team ID. You can find it on the top-right corner of IAS Signal next to your team name.

5. Add your IAS Campaign ID (also known as the IAS ADV Entity ID). Read this article to see how to find it.

6. Click Save. The Campaign Summary grid displays the integration icon on the Campaign row to indicate you configured a partner. You can hover over this icon to see the partner name. IAS will approve the link request within one business day, then your IAS team and Flashtalking accounts will link. Once IAS approves the initial request, all other campaigns tied to that Flashtalking Account and Advertiser get auto-approved. Note: To save time and avoid the approval process, you can partner with your IAS representative to pre-map accounts in IAS Signal under each team. If you pre-map accounts, you still have to link in the Flashtalking platform.

7. For each placement to which you want to add IAS verification, select the checkbox to the left of each placement name. 

   
   
   

8. Click the 3-dot menu icon in the Actions column.

9. Click Apply IAS Verification. Flashtalking sends a request to apply the blocking code to the tags automatically.

   

   A verification message appears in the upper-right corner when this succeeds.

Get Your Tags

The formatted tags are not available directly on the Ad Tag page. You can download the correct tag from the Ad Tag page. Follow these steps to get the tag with verification code applied:

1. Open the Ad Tag page for the relevant campaign site.

2. Click Download, then select the format you want. The file downloads to your desktop.

   
   
   

3. Open the downloaded Ad Tag sheet.

   • IAS_html column contains the tag for display ads

   • IAS_vast columns contain the populated tags for VAST ads

     
     
     

Understand Verification Columns

There are several columns and a layout available for this feature. See Adjust Campaign Grid Columns and Layout to learn how to adjust columns and layouts. View the verification code updates in the verification columns. These columns are grouped under Verification Automation in the Preset Layouts area of the Columns & Layout window.

The Verification Partner column shows the name of the partner that was used to apply the blocking code. The Verification Status column shows the status of the code applied to the ad tag. The possible status values are:

• Applied: Tag has been configured for partner verification.

• In Progress: Tag has been submitted and is in progress to be configured.

• Error: The tag was not successfully configured for verification.

• NULL: No integration exists, or the tag has not been submitted for verification configuration

FAQs

How Does Account Linking Work?

IAS and Flashtalking support many-to-many linkages. Contact your IAS representative to link multiple IAS teams to a single Flashtalking account, or to link multiple Flashtalking accounts to a single IAS team. Account linking looks different from other IAS automated tag integrations. Instead of an initial step to link accounts, the account linking happens with the first campaign that your team enables for automated tag wrapping.  Enter your IAS Team ID and Campaign ID for each campaign you enable, but only the first campaign you enable will require approval from Technical Account Managers via IAS Signal. Any subsequent linking requests will approve automatically. 

Do My Partner and Tag Settings Automatically Apply?

Flashtalking and IAS teams will honor IAS Agreement Templates and Media Partner Profile settings:

• For tag wrapping. For help setting your tag preferences across your IAS Agreement Template(s), Campaign Setup - Create/Edit Templates. 

• Across all placements under the partner.

Map publishers/sites in IAS Signal before you wrap placements by following the standard mapping process automatically triggered by the integration. Note: All placement wrapping in the campaign must be successful before you retrieve the tags.  

What Solution Types Does it Support?

This automated solution only supports Flashtalking Async tags.

Blocking vs. Monitoring

• Automated Tag Wrapping supports both Blocking and Monitoring solutions. Tag wrapping rules operating at the media partner level will first default to IAS Media Partner Profile settings, then honor the client preferences they configure in their Agreement Template.

  • As with all other IAS tags, a switch to a blocking solution can take up to two hours for the blocking to take effect.

  • You need to re-download and re-traffick tags from the Flashtalking platform if a solution updates or changes.

Display vs. Video

• Automated Tag Wrapping supports both Display and Video solutions.

• You assign Video wrapping solutions at the media partner level, which default to Media Partner Profile settings.

How Do 1x1s Work?

Flashtalking does not wrap 1x1 pixels with this feature. If Flashtalking is your primary ad server and you need to wrap 1x1s, please use IAS Tag Manager. If you need assistance with Tag Manager, please reference Tag Manager - User Guide or reach out to your IAS representative.
